Artist statement
Through my work, I explore the identity issues of gender, social status, and age. I have chosen to use my own body for this work because it is the most personal image that I can create to symbolize my sense of self. My body is the physical container in which I carry my mutable identity. The container's surface, my skin, is the protective but vulnerable membrane that divides my internal self from the external world. My skin is a boundary, an organ, a canvas upon which I inscribe my longings.
These photographs are a documentation of my experiments to reveal and push at the boundaries between male/female, young/old and human/animal.
