FY2009 Grants
How to use this site
The Metro Nashville Arts Commission’s Grants Program web site allows access to the forms necessary for submitting a grant proposal. The various pages:
- introduce the MNAC grants program
- offer answers to frequently asked questions
- list what has changed for this year
- show the various dates within the grants cycle
- link to the on-line grant application.
Additionally, we provide useful links to the Adobe Systems Web site for downloading the free Acrobat® Reader® software (required to use the PDF forms) and for information about the Portable Document Format (PDF).
Using the on-line grant application
You must be registered to use the on-line grant application. Call Jonathan Saad to set up your account: (615) 862-6744. Consult the Grant Guidelines and Instructions or click the help button at the bottom of each page to get more information on using the application.
Using the PDF documents and forms
The printable forms and documents are in PDF format. There are two groups: the first set is intended solely for printing; the second set includes interactive, fill-in forms which calculate and validate your data before printing. In order to function properly, these PDF documents and forms require Acrobat Reader version 5.0 or higher.
You may view and print all the PDF documents and forms using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Printed versions of both the plain and fill-in forms are suitable for submission to the Arts Commission. Use white, 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper.
(The best way to learn how to use all the features of the Reader is to choose Help > Acrobat Guide from within Acrobat Reader.)
Special instructions for the fill-in PDF forms
These interactive PDF forms allow you to enter data directly in the browser. The form calculates the totals and checks the data entered. After entering your information, you may print, sign, and submit the form.
How to get around in the form. You can navigate the fields in the form with the mouse or use the tab key to move from field to field. Fields for calculation cannot be entered or changed.
Field data formats. Some fields require the input to be in a specific format.
- Dollar fields
-
Display format: 10,000 (dollar amounts, no cents).
Characters accepted: numbers and the minus sign [-] (same as the hyphen, commas added automatically) - Date fields
-
Display format: January 1, 2003
Characters accepted: numbers, forward slash [/], hyphen [-], month names [January] and , three-letter month abbreviations [Jan] in standard date formats.
If you enter invalid data in these fields, a dialog box appears explaining what is wrong and requiring you to correct it.
Form Buttons. The fill-in PDF forms include buttons that allow you to clear all data from the form. This is useful if you wish to start over.
Cautions for this version. The on-line PDF forms are presented for your convenience. The grantee organizations are responsible for acquiring and filling out the grant forms completely and correctly, and submitting them on time, in spite of any problems that may arise from using the on-line versions.
Portable Document Format
Adobe Systems’ PDF file format is quickly becoming the standard for electronic document distribution. Converting a document to PDF preserves its layout, fonts, colors, and graphics. The Acrobat Reader, which may be downloaded for free, allows PDFs to be viewed and printed. This format solves the problem of document sharing because it is completely platform independent.
