When does MNAC's grant cycle begin?

Applications for FY2011 funds are due Friday, March 26, 2010, by 4:00 p.m. Refer to Grants program timetable.

Am I eligible for grants from the Metro Nashville Arts Commission?

To determine if you are eligible for a Metro Nashville Arts Commission grant, answer the questions below.

What are matching funds?

All grants require a “one-to-one dollar match” by the applicant. One-to-one dollar match means the applicant must cover at least half the cost of a project or program with its own income. See “Section I.C.2 Matching Funds Requirement” of the Grant Guidelines for additional information about matching funds requirements.

If I'm an individual, may I apply for a grant?

No, individuals are not eligible to receive a grant directly from the Metro Arts Commission. However, artists may pair up with a qualified applicant organization for a Program or Creation Grant. See “Section I.D. Grant Categories” of the Grant Guidelines for additional criteria and information about the grant categories.

Do I have to cover all of the proposal criteria in my narrative?

Your request for funds is judged in part by all criteria shown on pages 6 and 7 of the Grant Guidelines. It is in your best interest to address each of the criteria directly in your narrative. See the Guidelines for details.

How much detail do I need to include for requested funds?

Please indicate what the funds will be used for. For example, if the funds will be used for payroll, include details about which department and what type of employee will receive the money. Also, explain what performance, program, or project will benefit from the funds and how artists, actors, musicians, and other arts professionals are paid.

How much information is required about deficit reduction plans?

How much detail you should provide depends on how long the deficit has existed and how large it is. Your plans to solve a one-time, short-term deficit might be covered by a single paragraph. If you have been operating under a long-term or excessive deficit, please give a detailed and explicit plan covering

For Basic I category applicants, are photocopies of the audits acceptable?

Yes, but please submit at least one original audit report. The remaining seventeen reports may be copies.

Should Basic I audits be turned in early? If so, how many copies should we submit?

Yes. You may turn in one copy of your audit as soon as it becomes available. This gives the MNAC financial committee members more time to review the information. Be sure to include the remaining eleven copies with your grant application.
