Presented by the Southern Arts Federation, the 2006 Performing Arts Exchange (PAE) continues its long-standing commitment as a conference dedicated to developing business relationships in order to present performing artists and attractions in communities throughout the Southern, Mid-Atlantic and New England states. Professional artists are selected for the STL & YASTL roster on the basis of artistic merit, educational effectiveness, and the ability to communicate with young people. Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery

The Tennessee Arts Commission is seeking applications for exhibitions from Tennessee artists for the Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery's 2007-2009 exhibition series. The Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting and promoting the talent of artists working in visual art, craft, media and design disciplines from across the state of Tennessee. Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, this unique space features rotating exhibitions on display for 6-8 weeks. Lakewood Theatre Company

Lakewood Theatre Company is holding a Call for Directors for its 2007 season. Directors are asked to submit plays for consideration. The Theatre plans to fully fund and produce full-length productions in 2007. Lakewood strives to produce a balance of theatrical fare, including comedy, drama, musicals and mysteries. Lakewood also caters to the general public and encourages productions which use a diversity of characters, especially youth oriented roles wherever possible. Directors may submit more than one production for consideration (Submissions should be standard published works) and the Director must also submit complete bio and resume, including references with contact information, the Director's availability, and a summary of the Director's proposed treatment of the material (keeping in mind a frugal staging budget for costume, props, set, etc. The Director's honorarium at Lakewood is set at $200. Submission packages should be addressed to Tammy Coffman at 3868 Central Pike #901, Hermitage, TN 37076. Interviews will be held in September and selections will be announced by October 15. 34th Annual Toys Designed By Artists

Arkansas Arts Center - Jeannette Edris Rockefeller Gallery - Little Rock, AR This delightful and ever popular annual competition was created to recognize and celebrate the playful side in each of us- artists and viewers alike. Successful entries are creative and original and feature excellence of design and superior craftsmanship. Toys may be functional- or conceptual- child proof- or too delicate to touch. Anything goes! Each artist is limited to two entries. All works must be original, completed within the last two years, and must not have been previously exhibited at the Arkansas Arts Center. Auditions
Nashville Stages Open Auditions: August 12
Nashville Stages will hold professional and community theatre auditions for the fall and winter season which include productions of Pump Boys & Dinettes, Could It Be Love, and A Sanders Family Christmas at the Shoneys Family Dinner Theatre, TPAC's Polk Theatre, and Opryland's Acuff Theatre. Actors who can play a musical instrument are strongly encouraged to audition. Open auditions are scheduled for Saturday, August 12 from 2-6pm at 108 Donelson Pike. Arts Build Communities Arts Project Support provides funds for a variety of quality arts projects.
- Awards range from $500 to $3,000
- Applications must contain a clear, single-project focus
- Grant funds must be matched dollar-for-dollar

Volunteerism
Nashville Shakespeare Festival (NSF)
The NSF is eagerly recruiting volunteers for its 19th annual "FREE Shakespeare in the Park." This annual event held in Centennial Park is seen by 12,000+ middle Tennesseans and is tailored for the whole family. This season's production is Macbeth, Shakespeare's tale of a war hero whose impulsive grab for political power brings about his ultimate downfall. NSF has a great need for volunteers during the run of its show, August 10 - September 10. Volunteers will be asked to help set up, sell t-shirts and concessions and pass out programs. All ages are welcome and nightly training will be provided. Volunteers should arrive by 5:30 and stay at least through intermission (about 9:00 PM).
