Arts Resources
Introduction
The Arts Resources page is presented as part of the MNAC Information Resource program. The purpose of the Arts Resources page is to provide information to artists, arts organizations, art enthusiasts, visitors and the community at large. This page aims to foster an increased awareness of the arts and opportunities to the Nashville community.
Arts Resources offers an array of tools to facilitate the arts in the community, including:
- Artist Registry: an illustrated catalog of Nashville-area artists.
- Arts Directory: a guide to Nashville-area arts organizations.
- Art in Public Places: an illustrated catalog of Nashville-area public art.
- Artlinks: links to other arts-related Web sites.
- Metro Arts Gallery: a public venue for local artists to exhibit their work.
A Forum with Michael Kaiser
Metro Arts Commission presents this video recording of the “Arts in Crisis: A Kennedy Center Initiative” forum as a resource for assisting non-profit arts organizations in their operations. Michael Kaiser, president of the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., offered his ideas on how arts organizations can become better even during this economic downtown. The program is presented in a Q and A format with local arts and business leader Steve Turner interviewing Michael Kaiser. At the heart of Kaiser’s presentation is the idea that during tough times, arts organizations need to be doing more instead of less.
A Teacher’s Arts Resource Guide
Metro Arts is committed to helping teachers engage students in learning through the arts. This resource guide offers ideas for new and creative ways to use local arts education offerings to supplement school curriculum.
